About the position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) plays a crucial role in the operation of the hotel, particularly during the evening shift and in the absence of the General Manager. This position is responsible for ensuring that the hotel operates according to brand standards and company policies, while also serving as the first point of contact for guests. The AGM oversees front desk operations, manages guest relations, and ensures the property is well-maintained and secure.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the work of hotel staff during the evening shift.
  • Inspect rooms to ensure they are rent-ready.
  • Check common areas and maintain an organized front desk operation.
  • Take reservations and sell the property to new guests.
  • Register arriving guests, take payments, and assign rooms.
  • Handle guest complaints and incidents, including emergencies.
  • Monitor finances at the front desk and ensure accurate cash handling.
  • Conduct property walks and identify issues at the start of each shift.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance staff to resolve guest issues.
  • Train and supervise staff, ensuring compliance with safety rules.

Requirements

  • Experience in hotel management or a related field.
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to handle guest complaints.
  • Knowledge of cash handling and financial procedures.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience in a supervisory role in hospitality.
  • Familiarity with hotel management software.
