About the position

The Assistant Hospital Manager (AHM) plays a crucial role in supporting the development and achievement of unit and organizational goals within El Camino Health. This position is accountable to the Director and is responsible for directing daily operations, managing resources, and ensuring customer satisfaction while focusing on process and performance improvement. The AHM oversees clinical practice, staffing, supply chain management, budget adherence, employee relations, and compliance with regulatory requirements, all aimed at delivering high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and attainment of unit and organizational goals.
  • Direct daily operations and manage resources for optimal customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee clinical practice, staffing, supply chain, and budget management.
  • Handle employee relations and performance management, including evaluations and education.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory and survey requirements.
  • Manage patient throughput on assigned shifts and collaborate with clinical staff for patient placement.
  • Interface with the public to address patient and family concerns.
  • Float between campuses as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) required.
  • Master's degree in Nursing or a health-related field preferred.
  • Five years of current clinical experience in an acute care setting, preferably in critical care or emergency department.
  • Three years in a Charge Nurse, Assistant Hospital Manager, or Hospital Supervisor role preferred.
  • Management or leadership experience preferred.
  • Advanced communication skills in advocacy, negotiation, confrontation, and conflict resolution.
  • Current California RN License required.
  • BLS and ACLS certification required.

  • Experience in critical care or emergency department settings.
