About the position

The AutoCAD Drafter position is essential for creating and maintaining a comprehensive library of products and materials using industry-standard software. This role involves generating optimized designs that produce electronic files and cut bills for the manufacturing team, ensuring that all customer-specific project requirements are met efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize design software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, etc.) to create technical shop drawings from architectural plans, specifications, or conceptual designs.
  • Collaborate with the production team by coordinating hand-off meetings when needed.
  • Organize and prioritize customer-specific projects, ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Adjust shop drawings based on feedback and maintain drawing logs and lists.
  • Provide technical support to the quoting process, including creating material lists and evaluating vendor quotes.
  • Offer recommendations to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost through technical analysis.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and align practices with organizational goals.
  • Assist with procurement processes and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years in the custom metal fabrication industry.
  • Associate degree (AAS) in drafting or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, and other design software.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, architectural/structural drawings, and interior design documents.
  • Familiarity with commercial building construction is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional technical drafting skills and a strong understanding of basic math, geometry, and material calculations (e.g., area, volume, circumference).
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, work independently, and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
