About the position

The Aviation Maintenance Technician at American Airlines is responsible for ensuring the safety and airworthiness of aircraft through various technical and general functions. This role involves performing mechanical work, conducting scheduled maintenance inspections, and certifying the quality of workmanship. Technicians will work in diverse environmental conditions and are expected to adhere to safety procedures while maintaining a high standard of performance. Responsibilities

  • Service aircraft, including mechanical work such as dismantling, repairing, and assembling parts to maintain airworthiness.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance inspections and certify the quality of own workmanship according to maintenance manuals.
  • Connect/remove ground power and ground start units, and perform guideman functions for aircraft movement.
  • Perform inspections in extreme environmental conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Complete job-relevant trainings and adhere to government regulations (DOT, FAA, TSA).
  • Sign mechanical flight releases and maintain knowledge of maintenance manuals and supply catalogs.
  • Perform Foreign Object Debris (FOD) walks and clean work areas as necessary.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license is necessary.
  • Airframe and Power Plant License required.
  • Ability to read, write, and fluently speak English or the native language of the geographical location.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in any weather conditions and extra hours as needed.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must fulfill FAA criminal background checks for airport security access.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in aviation maintenance or related fields is preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic systems used in maintenance tasks.
