About the position
The Behavioral Health Technician will work closely with Mental Health Providers to assist in various patient care activities, including vital signs monitoring and point of care testing. This role is essential in ensuring a smooth administrative workflow and providing compassionate support to patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist visitors and patients when they arrive at the office
- Review all patient paperwork and mental health assessments
- Assist with phone calls from patients
- Coordinate the daily administrative activities, including scheduling and entering patient data in the EHR system
- Patient check-in and check-out, rooming patients, and maintaining patient medical records
- Preparation and upkeep of exam and treatment rooms
- Obtain and record patient medical histories, test results, and other information for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality
- Assist providers with performing basic vital signs and point of care testing
- Assist providers with pharmacy calls regarding prescription questions and issues
- Assist in prior authorizations for medications
- Assist with printing and faxing documents
- Follow office workflow procedures to ensure maximum efficiency
- Deliver compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families
- Ensure compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA
Requirements
- High School diploma, Medical Assistant Certification or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with electronic medical health care record system preferred, not required
- Phlebotomy experience preferred but not required
- Previous experience with EHR systems - Kareo is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
- Extremely detail-oriented and organized
