About the position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Operations Director to lead and optimize our Ocean import department. This role involves overseeing all ocean import activities, coordinating with various branches, clients, and vendors to ensure seamless logistics processes, managing risks, and maintaining customer expectations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, a deep understanding of logistics operations, and a proactive approach to identifying and solving challenges.

Responsibilities

• Manage freight forwarding operations with a focus on ocean imports, including pre-alert coordination, freight release, troubleshooting, and risk mitigation.
• Train and mentor team members to deliver high-quality, client-focused freight forwarding services.
• Assign tasks and responsibilities to ensure seamless team coverage during absences or peak periods.
• Monitor and oversee logistics activities for ocean imports/exports, rail, and land transloading shipments, ensuring timely and accurate deliveries.
• Coordinate with overseas branches and U.S. locations to maintain smooth operations across all regions.
• Communicate directly with clients, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to gather information and ensure compliance with customs requirements.
• Build and sustain strong relationships with suppliers and customers to meet service level agreements and ensure satisfaction.
• Conduct regular reviews of workload, operational performance, and pending issues to identify areas for improvement and mitigate risks, implementing cost-effective solutions.
• Supervise invoicing processes to ensure timely billing and compliance with financial protocols.
• Audit and verify invoices from manufacturers, truckers, and shipping lines to ensure accuracy.
• Provide feedback and coaching to team members, fostering ongoing performance improvement and customer satisfaction.
• Assist in developing and refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency in air freight operations.

Requirements

• 5+ years experience in freight forwarding management or related logistics/supply chain roles.
• Strong understanding of ocean freight operations, including import/export processes and shipment scheduling.
• Experience with GoFreight is highly desirable.
• Bilingual in Chinese and English is required.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
