About the position

The Billing Lead at Women's Care is responsible for overseeing financial operations related to patient billing and payments within the unit. This role involves verifying patient benefits, conducting billing for various procedures, and ensuring accurate documentation in electronic medical records. The Billing Lead also manages denials, trains team members, and represents the clinic professionally while adhering to HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Verify patient benefits via phone and internet.
  • Conduct billing for various visit types/procedures using appropriate CPT/ICD coding.
  • Document and update information in patient's electronic medical record.
  • Contact patients to obtain insurance information.
  • Perform charge entry and posting.
  • Collect current amounts due and prior balances from patients at the time of service.
  • Monitor billing-related reports and ensure appropriate actions are taken according to the Practice Manager's direction.
  • Assist in monthly financial close operations for the unit.
  • Oversee denials management and follow company protocols on follow-up processes.
  • Act as the subject matter expert over billing for the unit.
  • Train and coach teammates as needed.
  • Represent the clinic in a professional manner at all times.
  • Treat all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner.
  • Attend required meetings and participate in team activities and professional development activities.
  • Demonstrate and embody the Women's Care mission and core values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years medical billing experience in a medical office environment, preferably OBGYN.
  • Working knowledge of billing/insurance processes and guidelines.
  • Ability to multi-task in a stressful, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, providers, and patients.
  • Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical record systems, preferably eClinicalWorks.
  • Dependable, reliable, and punctual.
