About the position

The Birthday Party Host at Michaels is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating engaging events, particularly children's birthday parties, within the store. This role emphasizes delivering exceptional customer service, ensuring a fun and creative environment for guests, and managing various operational tasks to uphold the store's standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate multiple events including children's birthday parties and craft classes.
• Engage with clients of all ages, creating an environment of fun and creativity.
• Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities.
• Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards.
• Communicate event details with clients and store team members.
• Complete administrative tasks including answering emails and making phone calls.
• Adjust plans based on client feedback and create backup plans as needed.
• Ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events and uphold cleanliness and safety standards.
• Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event.
• Help customers shop, locate products, and provide solutions.
• Provide a fast and friendly checkout experience and engage customers on rewards programs.
• Assist with omni-channel processes including Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS).
• Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and merchandise recovery tasks.

Requirements

• Energetic and enthusiastic personality with excellent people skills.
• Experience working with children and children's events.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Creative problem-solving abilities.
• Retail and/or customer service experience.
