The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of blade geometry and sharpening techniques, along with the ability to fine-tune and finalize product assembly.

Responsibilities

  • Sharpen or restore blades by hand using grinders, whetstones, and other professional tools to achieve superior edge performance and durability.
  • Analyze blade geometry and steel properties to apply appropriate sharpening techniques for various blade types and purposes.
  • Perform quality checks and audits on sharpened products, ensuring they meet company specifications and customer expectations.
  • Create specialized or requested blade edges for specific applications.
  • Maintain sharpening tools and equipment to ensure consistent, optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot challenges and improve sharpening processes.
  • Document work completed and provide input on potential process improvements.
  • Stay updated with the latest sharpening techniques and technologies to continuously improve the quality of the blades.
  • Verify final assembly, ensuring precise fit and alignment of components.
  • Tune and adjust folding mechanisms, locks, and blade pivots for optimal functionality and safety.
  • Conduct final inspections to verify performance, smooth operation, and aesthetic quality.
  • Maintain detailed records of assembly processes and any adjustments made for future reference and quality control.
  • Test sharpened edges using tools and techniques such as paper-cut tests and edge retention evaluations.
  • Perform quality control checks on fully assembled knives, documenting findings and addressing discrepancies.
  • Support special or prototype builds.
  • Train team members in advanced sharpening techniques as needed.
  • Prepare recommendations for new sharpening tools or technologies to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Support other production roles as necessary during peak workloads.
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Maintain and calibrate all sharpening and assembly tools to ensure peak performance.
