About the position

The Commercial Portfolio Manager III is responsible for managing existing loan relationships in collaboration with a Commercial Banker. This role requires strong credit analysis and writing skills, as it involves underwriting loan renewals and modifications, acting as the primary point of contact for existing loan relationships, and ensuring compliance with financial covenants. The position demands proactive engagement with borrowers and various internal and external stakeholders to generate credit authorizations and manage a growing portfolio of loan relationships effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage existing loan relationships in collaboration with a Commercial Banker.
  • Underwrite loan renewals and modifications.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for existing loan relationships.
  • Coordinate receipt of financial information and monitor covenant compliance.
  • Review borrowing base certificates and accounts receivable aging schedules.
  • Prepare and present credit approval memoranda for internal approval.
  • Negotiate rates, fees, and terms with clients in collaboration with commercial bankers.
  • Work with legal counsel to prepare loan documentation for borrowers.
  • Monitor monthly borrowing base certificates and confirm availability.
  • Identify and report problem accounts in a timely manner.
  • Prepare reports for internal meetings and respond to auditor requests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years prior relevant experience in commercial credit analysis, underwriting, or portfolio management.
  • Formal credit training and a minimum of five years of underwriting and account management experience in commercial banking.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of loan structures and treasury products.
  • Ability to analyze financial statements and understand critical lending/financial ratios.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and knowledge of Federal and State banking regulations.
