About the position

The Camp Executive Director will manage the operations of YMCA Camp Twin Lakes, overseeing a multi-use youth residence and day camp facility. This role focuses on achieving financial success, enhancing community outreach, and ensuring high-quality programming for children. The director will work collaboratively with the Twin Lakes Family YMCA and other stakeholders to meet operational goals and expand camp offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the general operation of YMCA Camp Twin Lakes.
  • Manage an annual budget exceeding $3 million.
  • Ensure weekly participation of 575-650 campers in day camp.
  • Grow Super Camp participation from 15% to 25-30% within three years.
  • Enhance outdoor education and group rentals during the off-season.
  • Extend overnight camp offerings to a minimum of 8 weeks with 90-100% occupancy.
  • Stabilize salaries with benefits to 48-50% and control operating expenses to 44-46%.
  • Create a return on investment (ROI) of 5-9% within the first three years.
  • Collaborate with branch and Metro YMCA for successful operations planning.
  • Work with COO to develop an annual sales plan and event calendar.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business, or equivalent experience.
  • Five or more years of management and operations experience, preferably in a YMCA or nonprofit agency.
  • Proven ability to direct total operations, including volunteer development and staff supervision.
  • Experience in fundraising, including annual and capital campaigns, grant writing, and creative revenue streams.
  • Willingness to work hands-on when needed.
  • Experience in developing and enhancing programs.
  • Experience in managing and developing volunteer involvement.

Nice-to-haves

  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
