About the position

The Cardiac Exercise Physiologist (PRN) is responsible for organizing and supervising patient exercise sessions, preparing patients and equipment, and evaluating and adapting exercise prescriptions. This role involves patient and family education, leadership in team settings, and ensuring safe and effective exercise practices for patients with cardiac conditions.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates skill, accuracy and judgment in performing patient evaluations.
• Identifies educational needs of the patient and family, providing necessary education.
• Understands important electrocardiographic responses at rest and during exercise.
• Skillfully and safely progresses, leads, and supervises patients during exercise sessions.
• Monitors vital signs and observes for levels of fatigue, pain, and motivation during exercise.
• Demonstrates creativity and efficiency in designing and implementing exercise prescriptions.
• Participates in community educational activities regarding cardiac rehabilitation and heart health.
• Documents patient needs, interventions, and responses accurately and timely.
• Assists with emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients, including performing CPR.
• Maintains a safe environment for self, patients, and visitors, adhering to safety standards.

Requirements

• Graduate of an exercise physiology or exercise science B.S. program.
• BLS / ACLS Certifications within 3 months from date of hire.
• Experience in reading and interpretation of EKGs.
• A valid driver's license is required, with specific conditions for Ohio residents.
• Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
