About the position

The Care Partner I plays a crucial role in supporting nurses by providing essential patient care. This position involves a variety of tasks tailored to the specific needs of the unit, ensuring that patient care is delivered effectively and efficiently within the scope of the Care Partner's training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Nurse in providing patient care activities based on unit needs.
  • Take vital signs accurately and measure intake/output.
  • Complete activities of daily living as directed and document data via the electronic medical record.
  • Determine orthostatic blood pressures competently.
  • Perform blood glucose monitoring.
  • Collect, transport, and perform data entry for lab specimens as per policy.
  • Obtain blood products from the Blood Bank according to policy.
  • Notify the nurse of any pertinent changes in the patient's condition.
  • Maintain and stock adequate supplies and equipment in patient rooms and med rooms.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant is preferred.
  • BLS (American Heart Association) certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
