About the position

The Category Planner is responsible for developing and managing purchasing and inventory plans to ensure timely and efficient product supply to branches, meeting customer demand. This role involves coordinating with various departments, analyzing data, and implementing strategies to optimize inventory levels and improve supply chain performance. The position is hybrid after 90 days of employment and requires the candidate to be located in St. Louis, Missouri.

Responsibilities

  • Create purchase orders and transfer orders to align with customer demand and inventory policies.
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams for accurate demand planning.
  • Monitor inventory levels to maintain optimal stock and minimize excess inventory.
  • Maintain strong vendor relationships to manage purchase order changes effectively.
  • Stay informed about market trends and customer insights to tailor product selection.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in the assigned master class to support decision-making.
  • Act as a key member of the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) team to align supply chain plans with business goals.
  • Analyze supply chain data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to inventory and supply chain performance.
  • Proactively identify and resolve supply chain conflicts and disruptions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in demand planning, supply planning, or a related field, preferably in a security equipment supply distribution environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in planning and inventory management software.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • APICS CPIM (Certified in Production and Inventory Management) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) certification.
