About the position

The Childcare Center Director will oversee the operations of a new preschool and childcare program in Barberton, Ohio. This role requires strong leadership and supervisory skills to ensure compliance with state regulations and to foster a positive learning environment for children. The director will be responsible for staff training, curriculum implementation, and building relationships with families and the community.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with state child care licensing and Step Up to Quality requirements (SUTQ)
  • Train and monitor staff as they implement curriculum and SUTQ guidelines
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with teachers and parents
  • Conduct formal and informal teacher observations
  • Oversee student assessments
  • Conduct staff training, staff meetings, and professional development training for staff
  • Manage daily operations, ensuring all policies and procedures are met
  • Use software systems (Payroll, Brightwheel, SchoolGrow)
  • Role model classroom expectations
  • Complete SUTQ and CACFP paperwork
  • Supervise staff and children
  • Ensure presence in the community and growth of new families and children in the center
  • Track record in hiring and retention of families and staff
  • Create and maintain safe and healthy learning environments for children
  • Create positive relationships with families, teachers, state licensing authorities, community contacts, and corporate partners
  • Create and adjust daily staff schedules
  • Cultivate and maintain a safe and enjoyable culture in a fast-paced environment
  • Perform all essential functions for each position in the Center, including Leadership Team positions, teacher, Food Service, and Bus Driver
  • Oversee center operations including human resources, quality assurance, and facility operations

Requirements

  • Must hold a CDA (minimum), AA, or higher degree (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Step Up to Quality (SUTQ)
  • Prior Director/Assistant Director experience necessary
  • Knowledge of ODJFS licensing rules
  • Highly motivated and self-directed
  • Clean BCI/FBI background
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and Excel
