About the position

The Clinic Nurse (LPN or RN) at Oklahoma Arthritis Center is responsible for providing nursing care under the supervision of healthcare providers. This role involves obtaining patient health histories, administering medications, assisting in medical procedures, and ensuring adherence to safety and infection control guidelines. The nurse will also document patient interactions and maintain communication with patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain, verify and record health history of patients.
  • Gather pertinent health data through physical assessments.
  • Room patients and provide basic patient care as ordered by providers.
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by physicians or physician assistants.
  • Assist providers in performing exams, procedures, and treatments.
  • Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines, including cleaning exam rooms and sterilizing equipment.
  • Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in medical records.
  • Observe patients and report adverse reactions to medical personnel.
  • Perform phlebotomy duties as required.
  • Educate and instruct patients about self-administered medications.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating physician instructions.
  • Order, sort, and store supplies and restock exam rooms.
  • Answer telephone calls and relay instructions to patients or family members.
  • Accurately relay prescription information to pharmacies.
  • Fulfill clerical responsibilities, including sending/receiving medical records and completing forms for pre-certifications.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines.
  • Check and resolve assigned tasks in EMR program.
  • Assist co-workers as needed and maintain neatness of work area.

Requirements

  • Current LPN or RN license.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Familiarity with health care systems, regulations, and policies.
  • Understanding of documentation standards and basic laboratory procedures.
  • Knowledge of infectious disease management and control.
  • Skill in reading and following medical orders and initiating emergency procedures.
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations for drug dosages.
  • Experience with AllScripts EMR preferred.
  • Clinic experience preferred.

  • Experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
