About the position

The Clinical Service Specialist is responsible for providing comprehensive patient scheduling, registration, insurance verification, and coordination of various healthcare services. This role involves assisting with direct patient care under supervision, managing patient interactions, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The position operates during day shifts from Monday to Friday, with no weekend or holiday work required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete and accurate patient registration including walk-ins and scheduled appointments.
  • Support inbound and outbound calls to or from patients and guests as needed.
  • Understand and support Point of Service Collections, collecting patient obligations as necessary.
  • Verify patient, guarantor, coverage, and hospital account information.
  • Perform required referral/authorization processes and enter orders for applicable tests.
  • Complete documentation for compliance and regulatory needs.
  • Screen and accurately relay messages for emergent, urgent, and non-urgent calls.
  • Complete assigned patient scheduling and registration work queues according to performance standards.
  • Maintain the appearance of patient care and public areas through cleaning tasks.
  • Order, stock, and distribute supplies to meet the needs of the unit/department.
  • Greet and escort patients and visitors to and from clinic/exam rooms.
  • Initiate patient visits and follow up after visits when appropriate.
  • Assist providers with various procedures within scope and competency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year prior experience in Revenue Cycle in a Hospital/Medical Office Setting or administrative/data entry experience in a medical facility.
  • One year of clerical, customer service, or administrative support experience in a highly customer-oriented organization.
  • One year experience with basic keyboarding and personal computer use.

Nice-to-haves

  • One year of Epic (or equivalent Electronic Medical Record) experience.
  • One year of registration experience, point of service collection, and insurance validation.
