About the position

The Cloud Architect at Midwest Tape is responsible for overseeing the company's cloud computing infrastructure and platforms. This role involves ensuring secure integration with public, private, and hybrid cloud environments, maintaining cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and managing security and performance metrics. The position requires a strong understanding of AWS services and best practices, as well as the ability to design, implement, and support cloud solutions that meet company goals.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, and implement solutions on the AWS cloud platform.
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC), specifically Terraform, to create and maintain AWS infrastructure.
  • Maintain GitHub repositories for AWS infrastructure.
  • Manage AWS Organization, Control Tower, and Control Library.
  • Monitor and improve infrastructure performance, availability, and security.
  • Plan and execute the installation and configuration of AWS services.
  • Setup and support AWS networks and security endpoints.
  • Troubleshoot network problems and develop security policies.
  • Provide higher tier support for help desk team members.
  • Create and maintain AWS documentation.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in IT Infrastructure areas.
  • 5+ years of experience with AWS cloud services.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS Security, Identity & Compliance, and Networking.
  • Experience with IaC tools, particularly Terraform.
  • Familiarity with GitHub for version control.
  • Proficient in scripting languages such as bash, Python, and PowerShell.
  • Understanding of network design and implementation, including protocols like IPv4, IPv6, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Nice-to-haves

  • BS Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Experience with AWS Lambda function scripting.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft and Linux operating systems.
