About the position

The Concrete Journeyman is responsible for planning, laying out, and installing forms, rebar, embeds, and anchor bolts for concrete structures. This role requires a skilled individual who can interpret plans and specifications, construct and repair structures, and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret prints, drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Construct, erect, install, and repair structures, scaffolding, and framework using hand and power tools.
• Measure, cut, assemble, and install forms, rebar, embeds, and anchor bolts according to specifications.
• Erect built-in-place forms or assemble and install prefabricated forms.
• Insert spreaders and tie-rods between opposite pieces to maintain specific dimensions.
• Brace forms in place using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, and timber.
• Pour concrete into finished forms and finish concrete surfaces to specifications.
• Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities; determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed for work activities.
• Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies, and take corrective action.

Requirements

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Strong working knowledge skills and abilities for the position.
• Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Effective communication skills with management/supervision.
• Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools, layout tools, and measurement tools.
