About the position
The Construction Superintendent is responsible for on-site management of construction projects, which include both vertical construction and underground utility work. The role requires effective supervision of field operations and trade contractors, ensuring compliance with design standards and building codes. The ideal candidate should possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Supervise all field operations and trade contractors in conjunction with Project Manager
- Update Project Manager on project status on a daily/weekly basis
- Communicate effectively with clients, end-users, and subcontractors
- Coordinate all subcontractor activities and daily scheduling
- Inspect the quality of work to ensure compliance with design standards and take corrective action with subcontractors
- Review vendor drawings and submittals
- Coordinate subcontractor and safety meetings on-site
- Manage knowledge of permitting, inspections, building codes, and laws and implement them on every project
- Manage change orders on as-built drawings
- Manage temporary labor and carpentry staff
- Maintain a clean and safe project site at all times
- Implement hurricane preparations if necessary
- Attend preconstruction and construction progress meetings as needed
Requirements
- 3-5 years experience in a Superintendent role
- High school diploma required
- Ability to understand and comprehend construction drawings
- Ability to understand design specifications, structural details, and technical drawings
- Must be capable of identifying discrepancies or issues in the plans and proactively communicating solutions
- Driver's license
- OSHA 30 Hour Certification (or take required courses immediately upon hire)
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word) and Bluebeam
- Critical thinking/problem solver skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and attention to detail required
