About The Position

As a Fiber/Copper Splicer at TelCom Construction, you will be responsible for splicing, testing, and repairing cables and wires in both indoor and outdoor settings. This role requires the ability to read and create splicing diagrams, maintain work site activities, and take detailed field notes. The position emphasizes safety, self-supervision, and adherence to customer and industry specifications while providing opportunities for professional development and a supportive work environment.

Requirements

• Must have previous experience splicing copper and fiber optic cable
• Ability to distinguish colors
• Must be able to read and build from blueprints and/or wire diagrams
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Possess a valid driver's license or be eligible to obtain it
• Maintain a current DOT health certificate
• Ability to work in emergencies at night and weekends if needed
• Ability to be on an on-call rotation

Responsibilities

• Perform tasks associated with the electronic upgrade and splicing of copper and fiber optic cable
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot equipment after installation
• Maintain assigned vehicle, including periodic and daily checks
• Self-supervise all operations to ensure compliance with specifications
• Safely operate and use bucket truck for construction assignments
• Field train and oversee the work of other Splicers when necessary
• Complete daily production reports and mark-up maps
• Track work hours and complete 'as-built maps' for constructed areas
• Reconcile issued parts and materials daily
• Perform general clean up and accurate daily timekeeping
• Complete other splicing related duties as assigned
