About the position

The Data Analyst position is focused on understanding functional and technical requirements, analyzing data, developing and deploying complex reports, and creating project documentation related to data from the agency's applications. The role is essential for ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across various systems within the organization, while also collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance data management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Interface independently with high-level stakeholders to manage data projects, gather and document requirements, and ensure data quality.
  • Analyze, compile, verify, and query data as part of data warehousing services, developing complex SQL queries for reporting environments.
  • Design and document methods for implementing new database systems and create reports using SQL and various reporting tools.
  • Develop and administer data standards, policies, and procedures, and create common approaches to problem-solving.
  • Create scripts to identify and correct common errors and data inconsistencies in incoming data using SQL.
  • Troubleshoot problems related to database information input, retrieval, or modification, and maintain enterprise data systems.
  • Perform complex data analyses, validate data, and identify and correct inconsistencies and errors.
  • Coordinate activities with the project manager throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Act as a technical lead on data-driven reporting and applications development projects with minimal oversight.
  • Stay updated on current trends in database management and effective agency data management practices.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 16+ years of experience in data analysis and management.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data management tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with business intelligence systems and data analytics.
  • Familiarity with federal or district regulations related to data management.
