Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve computing issues at scale, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Support rack lifecycle processes, focusing on cloud-scale compute and storage environments.
  • Perform root cause analysis of complex technical issues and drive resolution.
  • Install hardware, including rack and stack, cabling, and rack integration.
  • Assist with projects related to new capacity and retrofits in the data center.
  • Understand and debug hardware and OS-related issues using command-line tools.
  • Execute turn-up/turn-down processes with support from ISOS.
  • Analyze data to diagnose systemic issues in the data center operations.
  • Provide support to Burlingame and Sunnyvale locations within the Bay Area.
  • Collaborate with internal hardware teams and vendors to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Maintain high hardware quality levels and influence future design for serviceability.
  • Create documentation for the global data center knowledge base.
  • Assist with process improvements and best practices in data center operations.
  • Maintain an efficient hardware test lab operation within the production/non-production data center.
  • Help develop global standards for processes, workflow, and automation roadmaps for server hardware deployment.
  • Lead process improvements and best practices in data center operations.
  • Provide cross-functional communication with other technical operations groups.

Requirements

  • Extensive understanding of PC/server hardware.
  • Proficiency in the Linux command line with common UNIX tools.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with Linux system administration and network administration.
  • Current valid driver's license and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record Check.
  • A current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner's Certification.
  • Driven, self-motivated work ethic.
  • Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to constant change.
  • Focused, detail-oriented, able to manage and analyze technical data from multiple sources.
  • Ability to dynamically switch between people-oriented and technically-oriented mindsets.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to safely lift and move a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
