About the position

The Legal Counsel - Ethics & Compliance, Data Privacy is a permanent and full-time managerial role at Accenture, designed for an experienced data privacy professional. This position is integral to the Ethics & Compliance function within the Legal department, focusing on providing data privacy advice and ensuring compliance with legal requirements across various services and initiatives. The role emphasizes collaboration with business stakeholders and requires a strong legal background, particularly in data privacy and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Privacy by Design reviews for client-facing services, offerings, projects, products, or initiatives.
  • Provide data privacy advice to support rapid-solutioning for identified client needs.
  • Partner with key business stakeholders to ensure data privacy considerations are integrated into new initiatives.
  • Support complex client-facing deals and address HIPAA-related questions to ensure compliance.
  • Conduct legal research and apply risk-based assessments regarding legal requirements for new initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including legal and business teams.
  • Create and maintain suitable privacy review processes and embed privacy by design methodology into business processes.
  • Collaborate with other Data Privacy team roles on global initiatives and projects.
  • Stay updated on legal and regulatory developments related to data privacy and technology trends, and develop guidance and training for internal audiences.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate and authorized to practice in at least one US jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in global data privacy law, preferably in the technology and IT sector.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience with major national data privacy legislation, including HIPAA, and cross-border privacy issues.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in monitoring privacy trends and translating them into actionable requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • CIPP/CIPM or comparable privacy certification.
  • Knowledge of Information and Communication Technologies.
  • Strong project/program management and operational skills to lead cross-functional projects in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with a global team and explain complex ideas in simple terms.
  • Highly motivated and proactive with strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
