About the position

The Deli Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Deli Department within a retail store, ensuring exceptional customer service and achieving sales and profit objectives. This role involves managing personnel, maintaining product quality and safety standards, and implementing company policies and procedures. The Deli Manager also plays a key role in training staff and fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and control the operation of the Deli Department.
  • Supervise and train personnel to achieve departmental and store sales and profit objectives.
  • Conduct daily inspections of all Deli sections and initiate corrective measures for compliance with quality standards.
  • Maintain stock conditions and ensure compliance with cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards.
  • Control pricing and ensure compliance with coupon and discount policies.
  • Implement company and division operating and merchandising policies.
  • Supervise and participate in store inventory counts.
  • Order Deli products and maintain inventory levels according to division directives.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
  • Schedule Deli Department associates to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Monitor associate performance and recommend personnel actions such as hiring and disciplinary measures.
  • Resolve associate complaints and report actions to the Store Director.
  • Communicate sales goals and department performance to associates.
  • Maintain accurate department records.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Experience in retail management, preferably in a food service environment.
  • Ability to supervise and train staff effectively.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
