About the position

The Department Manager for Nursery at SiteOne Landscape Supply is responsible for leading the nursery and plant material department within the branch. This role involves working closely with customers to meet their needs, ensuring safety and operational excellence, and fostering a positive work environment for employees. The manager will also be involved in sales and operations planning, inventory management, and staff training to achieve departmental sales goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist Branch Manager with sales and operations planning and statistical demand forecasting.
• Promote a safe work environment by leading by example and emphasizing safety daily.
• Encourage a strong safety culture through workplace organization and training.
• Understand and execute inventory management principles and target customer mix.
• Create a positive environment for employees that encourages teamwork.
• Train and develop agronomic staff on nursery products and customer needs.
• Partner with branch leadership to implement new technologies and improve business performance.
• Support other branch departments and customers as needed.

Requirements

• 1-3 years of experience in the green industry with an understanding of live plant material and nursery products.
• Excellent customer service and management skills.
• Experience with sales and operations planning and forecasting.
• Understanding of accounting fundamentals including debits, credits, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and budgets.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice-to-haves

• Line of Business (LOB) Certification Level I or higher, preferred.
