About the position

The Designated Crisis Responder (DCR) position at Olympic Health and Recovery Services (OHRS) is a part-time role focused on providing essential mobile crisis and involuntary treatment assessments to the community, primarily in Thurston and Mason counties. The DCR is responsible for addressing the physical and psychological needs of individuals in crisis situations, offering mobile crisis intervention, clinical assessments, and stabilization services to a diverse population including adults, children, and families. This role also involves providing involuntary treatment services in accordance with state laws and principles of rehabilitation and recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ITA investigations, evaluations, and associated DCR tasks, including petition writing and testifying in court.
  • Conduct ITA and crisis evaluations in various settings such as hospitals, jails, schools, and community locations.
  • Provide information and education to the community regarding mental illness and involuntary commitment laws.
  • Deliver crisis assessment, mobile crisis intervention, and stabilization services in diverse community environments.
  • Provide screening and triage services via telephone and face-to-face interactions.
  • Develop individualized safety plans and treatment recommendations to ensure client and community safety.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree or further advanced degree in counseling or one of the social sciences.
  • Meets WA state qualifications to be a Mental Health Professional.
  • Qualifies as an Agency Affiliated Counselor or is licensed in the state by the WA Department of Health as a Social Worker, Mental Health Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Psychologist, or BSN/RN.
  • Minimum of 24 months of experience in direct treatment of mentally ill or emotionally disturbed persons.
  • Valid WA State Drivers license, proof of insurance, and availability of a vehicle.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two (2) years of experience providing crisis intervention services.
  • Licensed Substance Use Disorder Professional.
