About the position

The Dietitian Specialist 2 is responsible for conducting nutritional assessments and implementing nutrition interventions for patients in inpatient and outpatient settings, particularly in the NICU. This role involves collaboration with healthcare teams, providing specialized nutrition education, mentoring clinical staff, and participating in educational activities for dietetic and medical students. The position requires a strong foundation in clinical nutrition and the ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Complete inpatient and outpatient nutritional assessments and reassessments.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to implement nutrition interventions.
  • Coordinate the nutrition care of patients.
  • Provide specialized nutrition education to patients and family members.
  • Work with dietitians, dietetic technicians, and diet aides to improve performance standards.
  • Conduct in-services and lectures for clinical staff.
  • Mentor clinical dietitians and other healthcare team members.
  • Educate dietetic and medical students.
  • Serve as a consultant for physicians.
  • Participate in outpatient group nutrition classes as assigned.
  • Fulfill appointments when referrals are received.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or a related field required.
  • Two years of clinical nutrition experience required.
  • One year of experience in Pediatrics preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of clinical nutrition in the area of specialty.
  • Ability to read, write legibly, and speak in English (Spanish preferred) with professional quality.
  • Proficient in using computer and software programs necessary for the position.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and calibrate office equipment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in pediatric nutrition.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
