About the position

The Director of Bottling Operations is responsible for overseeing all bottling operations involved in the production of finished case goods. This role focuses on process development, safety, quality control, compliance, and strategic initiatives to optimize bottling capacity and efficiency. The position requires collaboration with various departments, including Supply Chain and Winemaking, to ensure operational success and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategic initiatives and action plans to achieve performance, quality, and safety standards.
  • Oversee daily bottling operations, track and monitor bottling schedules, and maintain appropriate staffing levels.
  • Develop departmental action plans aligning company priorities with team member KPIs.
  • Maximize bottling production capabilities and ensure on-time delivery of case goods.
  • Promote process development and change management, identifying gaps and performing root cause analyses.
  • Manage departmental budgeting and forecasting, analyzing spend and identifying capital improvement needs.
  • Analyze data and report regularly to senior management.
  • Negotiate terms related to bottling, labor, and equipment contracts.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and report near misses and risks.
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and local regulations.
  • Partner with Supply Chain for inventory control of finished goods.
  • Train and coach staff in quality and safety-related programming.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and manage hiring processes.
  • Serve as a key member of internal management teams and mentor departmental staff.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in a high-volume beverage/wine/spirits bottling environment, with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to budget and forecast effectively with a good sense of financial cost control measures.
  • Promotes safety and maintains a safe working environment.
  • Detail-oriented with high utilization of data for decision-making.
  • Effective leadership and excellent communication skills.
  • Fluency in MS Office and familiarity with ERP software preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task and adapt quickly to new situations under tight deadlines.
  • Strong individual contributor with the ability to self-direct and understand compliance and legal standards in wine production.
