About the position

The Director of Nursing (DON) at Plantation Surgery Center will be instrumental in the successful launch and operation of a newly built Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) featuring two operating rooms and one procedure room. This role involves close collaboration with the ASC Administrator to recruit, develop, and manage the clinical team, ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment while overseeing clinical personnel, education initiatives, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the ASC Administrator in recruiting and onboarding clinical staff.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop clinical staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and continuous learning.
  • Ensure staff meets annual clinical education requirements and competencies.
  • Serve as the central representative for quality improvement and risk management initiatives.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective action plans.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and accreditation standards (AAAHC, ACHA).
  • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly compliance processes to maintain a safe clinical environment.
  • Oversee clinical operations, optimizing workflow efficiency and managing staffing schedules.
  • Assist in clinical roles around the center, including functioning as an OR Circulator for orthopedic and spine surgeries if needed.
  • Regularly report operational and quality performance metrics to the ASC Administrator.

Requirements

  • Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred; Master's degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration is a plus.
  • Active RN license in the state of Florida.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience as an OR Circulator, with direct experience in orthopedic and/or spine surgeries.
  • First Assist, CNOR or Surgical Tech Experience a plus.
  • Preoperative and/or PACU experience a plus.
  • Previous experience in a nursing leadership or management role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ASC operations, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage clinical schedules and optimize operational flow.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
