About the position
The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing the nursing department within a healthcare facility. This role involves managing nursing staff, developing care plans, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care. The position requires a strong background in nursing administration and a commitment to delivering excellent care in various healthcare settings.
Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise nursing staff in a healthcare facility
- Develop and implement care plans for patients
- Ensure compliance with Medicare, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
- Oversee the implementation of nursing policies and procedures
- Utilize medical terminology effectively in communication and documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing; Master's degree is a plus
- Valid RN license
- Proven experience in nursing leadership roles
- Strong knowledge of nursing practices and procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks
- Familiarity with electronic health records and healthcare software
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in systems related to nursing home, hospice care, and home health is preferred
