About the position

The Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for overseeing the nursing department within a healthcare facility. This role involves managing nursing staff, developing care plans, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals to provide high-quality patient care. The position requires a strong background in nursing administration and a commitment to delivering excellent care in various healthcare settings.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise nursing staff in a healthcare facility
  • Develop and implement care plans for patients
  • Ensure compliance with Medicare, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Oversee the implementation of nursing policies and procedures
  • Utilize medical terminology effectively in communication and documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing; Master's degree is a plus
  • Valid RN license
  • Proven experience in nursing leadership roles
  • Strong knowledge of nursing practices and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Familiarity with electronic health records and healthcare software

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in systems related to nursing home, hospice care, and home health is preferred
