About the position

The Director of Project Development and Construction Management is responsible for overseeing design build, construction, controls/automation, equipment, and energy retrofit projects across various Havtech businesses. This role involves providing project development expertise to sales associates, managing project implementation, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The position requires significant travel and the ability to lead cross-functional teams while developing HVAC system-related solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and technical, operational, financial, and managerial oversight for project activities.
  • Work closely with Owner Direct Sales associates to develop project requirements and solutions.
  • Direct a cross-functional team including design and energy engineers, project developers, and construction project managers.
  • Lead coordinated sales efforts involving multiple Havtech sales groups.
  • Gather and validate preliminary information and perform facility walk-throughs and construction plan reviews.
  • Develop HVAC system-related solutions for customer problems, considering financial and performance aspects.
  • Determine project needs, constraints, and responsibilities for HVAC system or building design and installation.
  • Manage project development from inception to close out.
  • Review energy audit reports and engage with the Sales team for project development.
  • Complete schedule of values, subcontract scopes, and budgetary construction estimates.
  • Develop full-scale project plans, coordination drawings, and construction schedules.
  • Ensure project scope is technically sound and meets customer requirements.
  • Prepare transition documents for assignment to operations team.
  • Manage contracts and build relationships with subcontractors.
  • Oversee administration team for final inspection, invoicing, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Construction or Engineering Technology, and a PE License.
  • 10+ years of construction management and project development experience.
  • Management or supervisory experience of project managers and service personnel.
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, utility rebates, and tax incentives.
  • Proficient with HVAC systems, controls, and automation.
  • Ability to perform HVAC equipment selections.
  • Experience with Co-Operative purchasing, GPO, and government purchasing vehicles.
  • Knowledge of ESCO market and energy retrofits.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of presentation skills.
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of the HVAC industry.
  • Ability to travel at least 60% of the time.

  • Understanding of basic energy conservation measures applied in buildings.
