About the position

The Director of Summer Camp Ministries at Sky Ranch is a vital leadership role responsible for overseeing the overnight Summer Camp Ministry. This position is integral to advancing the mission of Sky Ranch by shaping the culture, content, and execution of the Summer Camp experience, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values. The Director will lead the development and delivery of programming, manage the Summer Staff experience, and ensure camper care, all while collaborating with various teams to ensure the ministry's success.

Responsibilities

  • Establish clear goals and objectives for the Summer Camp Ministry aligned with Sky Ranch's mission.
  • Provide strategic leadership and coaching to direct reports for their professional growth.
  • Monitor and evaluate direct reports, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the safety and spiritual growth of all overnight campers through high-quality programming.
  • Serve as a key contact for camper families, addressing concerns and feedback.
  • Oversee camper-related surveys and implement improvements based on feedback.
  • Lead the development and execution of training for full-time and summer staff.
  • Collaborate with Operations Teams to plan and execute camp programs.
  • Maintain an active presence at all summer camp locations for leadership and support.
  • Prepare and manage budgets for all overnight camp programs efficiently.
  • Develop and implement a compelling summer theme and oversee promotional materials.
  • Coordinate and train camp ministry leaders for impactful ministry moments.
  • Oversee the creation and approval of all content and resource materials.
  • Implement systems for evaluating operational procedures and improving camp structures.
  • Lead the recruitment and hiring process for over 850 Summer Staff across all locations.
  • Support Operations Teams in staffing decisions and staff placement.
  • Provide ongoing leadership and mentorship for Summer Staff throughout their tenure.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to set and execute long-term vision and strategic objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in camp/sport leadership, business, or Christian ministries preferred.
  • At least four years of experience in camp ministry in a full-time leadership role.
  • Detailed understanding of summer camp ministry through experience and research.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and processes.
  • Strong working ability with office software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
