About the position

Leven Bakery & Cafe is seeking a part-time Dishwasher to maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment. This role is crucial for ensuring that all dishware, cookware, and utensils are sanitized and ready for use, while adhering to food safety and hygiene standards. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced setting and possess a strong desire to learn and contribute positively to the team.

Responsibilities

• Wash and sanitize all dishes, utensils, and cookware using commercial dishwashing equipment and/or by hand.
• Sort and organize cleaned items for proper storage.
• Keep dishwashing area clean and organized throughout the shift.
• Remove trash and dispose of it properly; replace garbage liners.
• Sweep and mop floors in the dishwashing and kitchen areas as needed.
• Monitor dishwashing machine for proper operation and report any issues to the supervisor.
• Refill dishwashing chemicals and ensure proper usage.
• Assist kitchen staff with light prep work or other tasks as directed during slower periods.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle repetitive tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Physical stamina to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in a hot, humid environment.
• Customer service skills.
• Planning and multi-tasking abilities.
• Self-motivated with a high energy level.
• Verbal communication skills.
• No prior experience required; on-the-job training will be provided.

Nice-to-haves

• Hospitality-related kitchen experience preferred.
• Current food handler's card and other certification as required by federal/state/local law.
