About the position
The Fuel Storage Tank Service Technician Apprentice position at TAIT & Associates, Inc. is designed for current active duty servicemembers transitioning to civilian roles. This apprenticeship offers hands-on training to become a Service Technician, focusing on environmental compliance in the petroleum industry. The role involves testing, maintaining, and repairing refueling equipment while ensuring adherence to state and local regulations. The position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week for a duration of 8 weeks to 6 months, providing a pathway to valuable civilian work experience.
Responsibilities
- Complete required training classes to obtain necessary certifications.
- Obtain a 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate after initial training.
- Train in the field with experienced Service Technicians and Designated Operators.
- Conduct A/B Operator Inspections and Monitoring System Certifications.
- Perform Spill Bucket testing and vapor recovery testing as per state regulations.
- Diagnose and repair UST & AST systems.
- Utilize handheld tools such as pipe wrenches and voltmeters.
- Complete project paperwork and submit on time.
- Enter inspection data into online data collection systems using a company laptop.
- Drive company work truck to client job sites.
- Follow all safety requirements and maintain a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Current Active Duty Servicemember separating from the military in 4-12 months.
- Ability to complete a minimum of 8 weeks and up to 6 months of apprenticeship.
- Mechanically minded with experience using general handheld tools.
- Valid and current Driver's License with the ability to drive extensively.
- Organizational and scheduling skills.
- Experience with laptops, computers, and Microsoft programs.
