About The Position

The Dynamical Systems and Controls Scientist role at ASML involves joining a technology development team focused on advancing extreme ultraviolet (EUV) light sources. The position requires expertise in plasma physics, metrology, optics, controls, and lasers to improve EUV power output and stability. The scientist will engage in experimental design, data analysis, and troubleshooting to enhance the performance of EUV sources, contributing to the next generation of semiconductor technology.

Requirements

  • PhD with 0 years of relevant experience or MS degree with a minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in physics, electrical or control engineering, data science, or an equivalent field.
  • Understanding of solid-state physics, engineering, and control.
  • Understanding of scientific research methods and strong scientific curiosity.
  • Extensive experience with experiment control, data analysis, and development of data analysis tools using Matlab, Python, or C++.
  • Affinity to analyze large data sets using machine and data-driven learning methods.
  • Hands-on experience with complex system design, experimentation, characterization, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with breadboard laser and optical system design, alignment, and performance characterization.
  • Practical experience within the space of metrology techniques and metrology development.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the development of an architecture delivering improved EUV power with a focus on stability and reduced power margin requirements.
  • Design and lead the execution of EUV experiments on the EUV source to demonstrate novel technology and test hypotheses.
  • Analyze acquired experimental data and visualize key performance indicators, employing advanced methodologies such as machine-learning algorithms.
  • Provide input to technology roadmaps, identify key scientific learning objectives, and define corresponding experimental designs.
  • Demonstrate system-wide performance targets to meet future technology roadmap requirements.
  • Troubleshoot issues with lasers, control, and optical systems to improve the EUV generation process.
  • Document discoveries and communicate knowledge to engineering and product development teams.
  • Work independently and in teams to deliver on stated objectives, whether pursuing new knowledge or characterizing existing performance.
