About the position

The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Skills Instructor at Red Rocks Community College is responsible for mentoring and instructing ECE pre-service teacher students during their field-based activities. This role involves providing advisement, coaching, and assessment of teaching skills to students working with young children in a hands-on classroom setting. The instructor will offer skill-building support, maintain accurate records of student progress, and act as a liaison between classroom staff and the ECE program, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and instruct Early Childhood Education (ECE) students during field-based activities.
  • Provide coaching and constructive feedback on students' teaching techniques.
  • Assess students' application of coursework knowledge in real-world settings.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grades by established deadlines.
  • Complete necessary paperwork, including timesheets and program assessments.
  • Act as a liaison between classroom site staff, students, and the ECE program.
  • Participate in reflective consultation, meetings, and events.

Requirements

  • Broad knowledge of early childhood education, including child development and guidance practices.
  • Knowledge of Colorado General rules and Regulations for Childcare and CDEC Competencies for Early Childhood Professionals.
  • Must hold current CDEC EC Director Qualification letter and equivalent PDIS Credential Level III.
  • Must be eligible for initial Post-secondary CTE credential.
  • 3+ years of working experience in early childhood classroom settings with multiple age groups.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associate, bachelor's, or master's degree in ECE or Child Development from an accredited institution.
  • Recent training to be eligible for an initial coaching credential or currently holds a coaching credential with the PDIS system.
  • 5+ years of working experience in early childhood classroom settings with multiple age groups.
