About The Position

The Education Specialist at Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital (MLKCH) is responsible for supporting non-clinical education programs. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Design, Education, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of directly related work experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of instructional design concepts and practices.
  • Ability to engage adult learners and stimulate critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated experience with e-learning authoring tools.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) for data entry and reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Participates as a member of the Education Department to achieve annual MLKCH goals.
  • Supports HR OD Director with broad MLKCH initiatives.
  • Communicates assigned project milestones to the Director of Education and Professional Development and key stakeholders.
  • Role models expert practice through the introduction of benchmarked best practices and appropriate learning methodologies.
  • Acts as process owner and facilitator for General Hospital Orientation, ensuring all participants understand the program details.
  • Ensures all non-clinical departments conduct annual competency assessments and validate required competencies.
  • Participates on hospital committees as assigned by the Director of Education and Professional Development.
  • Serves as a consultant to non-clinical areas to identify best practices and learning needs.
  • Cultivates positive relationships within the Education Department and with all MLKCH personnel.
  • Seeks feedback from participants in every learning event and conducts evaluations to drive improvements.
  • Develops action plans with Directors to incorporate learning event content into practice.
  • Participates in the annual educational needs assessment process with Clinical Educators.
  • Utilizes adult learning principles in program planning and selects appropriate teaching strategies.
  • Plans all aspects of program offerings including marketing, curriculum development, and logistics.
  • Ensures learning event criteria are entered into the Learning Management System within 7 business days.
  • Analyzes MLKCH data to identify performance gaps and incorporates this analysis into curriculum design.
  • Coordinates the implementation of all programs for assigned departments, including obtaining external experts and resources.
  • Works with academic partners to ensure affiliation agreements are up to date and approves clinical rotation requests.
