About the position

The EHP Integrated Hazard Author position at Aerodyne Industries offers a unique opportunity to support NASA's Gateway program by applying expertise in Extravehicular Activity (EVA) safety requirements and conducting mission-level safety analyses for human spaceflight missions. The role involves ensuring compliance with Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) requirements and identifying and mitigating flight safety risks within hazard reports.

Responsibilities

  • Support Systems Requirement Review, Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews of EHP systems hardware.
  • Serve as the EVA Author for the Gateway Integrated Hazard Analysis Reports.
  • Act as the primary safety, reliability, and quality assurance (SRQA) representative for the Integrated Hazard Analysis (IHA) development.
  • Ensure the technical adequacy of analyses developed for the Gateway Program.
  • Participate in Gateway forums to provide S&MA engineering support in vehicle development.
  • Ensure accuracy and delivery of products including Program Integrated Hazard Causes assigned to the program elements.
  • Coordinate and negotiate with EHP elements to resolve issues impacting Integrated Hazard Causes.
  • Provide technical engineering support to NASA Gateway Program Representatives for decision-making boards and panels.
  • Review and assess safety analysis hazard reports and requirement non-compliances.
  • Evaluate safety and mission assurance impacts of proposed engineering changes to EHP hardware and processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Aerospace) or STEM (e.g., Math, Physics).
  • 10-15 years of experience in operations and/or engineering.
  • Basic knowledge and use of personal computer with typical business software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
  • Systems Engineering experience is desired.
  • Spacecraft vehicle and system knowledge is desired.
  • NASA S&MA experience is desirable.

  • Experience with spacecraft vehicle and system knowledge.
  • Familiarity with NASA Safety and Mission Assurance processes.
