About the position

The Engineering Technician (Civil) position involves conducting site evaluations, designing engineering practices, and inspecting construction work related to various conservation programs. The role requires a combination of technical skills in engineering practices and the ability to work collaboratively with landowners and government units to implement conservation measures effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Make site evaluations to assess the need for engineering measures and recommend appropriate alternatives.
  • Design engineering practices and structures for conservation programs, including preparing drawings and specifications using CADD and manual methods.
  • Inspect construction work and maintain inspection records according to policy.
  • Determine the type, scope, and intensity of field investigations and surveys, including collecting and processing field data.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen or US National.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state motor vehicle operator's license.
  • Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level in Federal service or comparable experience in engineering technician practices, methods, and processes.
  • Education in engineering, construction, or industrial technology may substitute for experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD).
  • Knowledge of natural resource-related conservation projects.
