About the position

The Engineering Technician position at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers involves producing spatial data products and services for surveying engineering within the Norfolk District. The role requires applying standard surveying practices to solve complex problems, collaborating with engineers and scientists, and providing technical support for hydrographic, topographic, and geodetic survey data acquisition. The technician will also serve as a Contracting Officer's Representative for relevant contracts and conduct UAS flight planning and operations.

Responsibilities

• Produce spatial data products and services for surveying engineering organizations.
• Apply standard surveying engineering practices to solve novel problems.
• Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and other professionals to ensure quality delivery of spatial data products.
• Provide technical and administrative support for real-time acquisition of survey data.
• Serve as a Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) for surveying task orders and procurements.
• Conduct UAS flight planning, pre-flight preparation, safety inspections, and system monitoring during missions.

Requirements

• Experience collecting topographic or hydrographic surveys in various environments.
• Ability to verify the accuracy of surveys and plan survey procedures.
• Utilization of hydrographic and topographic methods to process and analyze survey data.
• Experience creating scopes of work, technical reports, and detailed resource estimates.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with project teams and contractors.
• Experience overseeing the work product of others.
