About the position
The ER Patient Access Specialist is a part-time role responsible for the initial registration and welcoming of patients and their families at the Emergency Department. This position serves as the first point of contact, ensuring a compassionate and professional experience while managing patient information and assisting with administrative tasks related to patient registration.
Responsibilities
- Register patients into the centralized patient registration software system according to healthcare regulations.
- Ensure patients complete required intake forms, including notice of privacy practice and assignment of benefits.
- Accurately enter patient demographic information into the Practice Management System.
- Scan and maintain copies of identification and insurance cards for each patient.
- Assist in various areas as needed to support patient care and team collaboration.
Requirements
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of Emergency Room registration experience required.
- Experience in a Physician's office or ER preferred.
- Strong keyboard ability with accurate typing skills.
- Excellent spelling, customer service, telephone, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to perform basic math computations.
Nice-to-haves
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Demonstrated skills in communication and quality patient service attitude.
