About the position

The Facilities and Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of repair and routine semi-skilled maintenance tasks for regional facilities. This role ensures that facilities are safe, clean, and available for use, while also maintaining equipment and infrastructure in proper operating condition.

Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance for District facilities, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical trades work.
• Ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition.
• Keeps equipment, spaces, structures, and infrastructure in proper operating condition.
• Performs equipment repairs and collaborates with subject matter experts as necessary.
• Maintains, installs, and repairs IT infrastructure.
• Assembles, repairs, maintains, and moves furniture such as desks, cabinets, tables, chairs, and shelves.
• Conducts routine inspections and maintenance of heating, electrical, and air conditioning equipment; replaces filters; identifies and reports more complex maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Inspects facilities and grounds for safety and security; identifies and reports hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisor.
• Follows safe working practices and makes appropriate use of related safety equipment as required.
• Assists GM with supervising custodial staff and tasks.
• Assists with structural pest control measures.
• Clocks in and out at each facility.
• Maintains records and logs of daily activities.
• Assists with regional special events, as needed.

Requirements

• Solid understanding of IT, carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems as well as other crafts.
• Must have tools, transportation, and a valid driver's license.
• Must be fluent in the English language.
• Experienced with MS Office and Dropbox.
• Have access to a PC, laptop, and email platform.
