About the position

The Field Service Technician role at Premier Tech involves providing service, maintenance, and upgrades for industrial automation and packaging equipment. The technician acts as a trusted advisor to customers, helping them implement solutions that enhance equipment performance and productivity. This position requires a proactive approach to managing customer challenges and involves significant travel to customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain, and upgrade industrial automation and packaging equipment.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to support customers in achieving their manufacturing and corporate objectives.
  • Provide customers with a complete understanding of integrated solutions to enhance equipment performance.
  • Manage uptime by proactively identifying and addressing customer challenges.
  • Advise and train customers on equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Understand and integrate customer operations into actionable recommendations.
  • Facilitate harmonious relationships with customers and team members across functions.
  • Report daily on activities, travel, timesheets, and expenses in a timely manner.
  • Provide technical phone support for troubleshooting and support to colleagues.
  • Promote services, parts, retrofits, and training recommendations to customers.
  • Audit equipment and provide recommendations to optimize uptime.
  • Test equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Promote health and safety to mitigate risks and safety issues.
  • Adapt to a changing travel and work schedule, with a minimum of 75% travel expected.
  • Work up to 12 hours per day, possibly including nights and weekends as per customer requests.

Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a field service technician with electromechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic equipment.
  • Associate degree with emphasis in mechanical, electrical, or automation.
  • Ability to interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience, including the ability to upload and download programs.
  • High safety proficiency and consultative selling skills.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to climb a ladder and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Valid US passport and up-to-date state driver's license.
  • US citizenship to access some customer locations; no criminal convictions that inhibit international travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with service of packaging machinery.
  • Familiarity with robotics, specifically FANUC or similar systems.
