About the position

The Field Supervisor for Transportation is responsible for overseeing the safe transportation of regular and special education students to and from school and related events. This role involves a variety of supervisory and administrative functions, including staff management, route planning, and conflict resolution, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and effective communication with parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Support the supervisory and operational efforts related to transportation of regular and special education students.
• Assist in the hiring, training, recruiting, retention, and professional development of all transportation staff.
• Effectively monitor processes and provide solutions to conflict; review bus routes and schedules as well as changes to routes and schedules; receive and resolve parent and/or driver complaints related to bus transportation.
• Review and evaluate work of transportation personnel including bus drivers, bus monitors, dispatchers, and monitors; direct subordinates in planning work assignments.
• Regularly observe work performance of assigned personnel.
• Resolve personnel problems; make decisions concerning reassignments and discipline; and recommend employee selections and promotions.
• Recommend purchase of equipment and supplies in accordance with budgetary limitations.
• Embrace the development and implementation of computer software for transportation department use.
• Investigate bus accidents and document findings; monitor procedures and correct safety problems related to loading and unloading students.
• Review and approve requests for field trip and special trip transportation; plan and organize resources to meet these requests.
• Follow Educator Code of Conduct & all policies, procedures, laws and State/Federal regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Clear and valid Texas commercial driver's license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
• Certified school bus driver.
• Two years' experience as a bus driver or supervisor.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of routing area, including streets and subdivisions in the Pflugerville School District, preferred.
• Strong computer/software skills and some college preferred.
