About the position
The position of Server at Wilderness Resort involves providing excellent customer service to guests by taking food and beverage orders, serving meals, and ensuring a pleasant dining experience. The role requires interaction with guests, knowledge of menu items, and the ability to handle payments while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests and introduce self.
- Present menus and answer questions about menu items and daily specials.
- Check guest's identification for age verification regarding alcohol consumption.
- Take orders for food and beverages, either by writing them down or entering them into a computer system.
- Serve food and beverages, including specialty dishes at tables as required.
- Perform side work and prepare areas for the next shift.
- Check with guests to ensure satisfaction and address any issues.
- Remove dishes and glasses from tables and take them to the kitchen for cleaning.
- Prepare checks that itemize and total costs, and collect payments from guests.
- Advise a manager of any concerns related to excessive drinking.
- Perform duties of a busser as needed.
- Maintain a clean, well-stocked, and presentable work environment.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a server role or similar position preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic math skills for handling payments and checks.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Familiarity with menu items and beverage pairings.
