About the position

The Financial Analyst position at Woodward involves performing financial analysis and providing business support in alignment with company policies and procedures. The role requires minimal supervision and focuses on analyzing financial information to support business decisions, preparing financial presentations, and developing financial models for decision support. The analyst will also identify continuous improvement opportunities and participate in lean and six sigma projects, while maintaining a general understanding of various financial functions.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial information to provide insights for business performance and support decision-making.
  • Partner and communicate with stakeholders to understand their needs and convey financial analysis results.
  • Prepare formal financial presentation materials for delivery by finance and business leaders.
  • Develop and maintain financial models for decision support, including product life cycle processes and capital expenditure justifications.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and participate in lean improvement and six sigma projects.
  • Maintain a general understanding of financial accounting, income taxes, treasury, and internal audit to drive appropriate consultation.
  • Read and understand engineering drawings and Bills of Material (BOM) to support financial analysis.
  • Compile and analyze multiple data sources to identify relevant information for decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences in Accounting, Finance or Economics required.
  • 2-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with cost analysis for proposals requiring Cost or Pricing Data (COPD) preferred.
  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 15 preferred.
  • Demonstrates commitment to quality and awareness of continuous improvement principles through lean and six sigma tools.
  • Proficient in MS Office, with advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • General knowledge and comfort working with ERP systems.
  • Ability to apply sound logic to problem solving and understand business and economic principles.
  • Strong attention to detail and good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial tools.
