About the position
The Health Unit Coordinator I (HUC I) plays a crucial role in the daily clerical operations and coordination of activities within a nursing unit at Ben Taub Hospital. This position involves close collaboration with the charge nurse and nurse manager to ensure that patient needs are met effectively. The HUC I is responsible for monitoring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, maintaining unit supplies and equipment, and serving as the central point for communication and coordination of unit activities.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily clerical operations on the nursing unit.
- Support unit operations in collaboration with the charge nurse/nurse manager.
- Monitor compliance with environmental and process safety standards.
- Maintain unit supplies and equipment.
- Facilitate communication and coordination of unit activities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Basic Life Support certification from an AHA or Red Cross approved program.
- Three years of work experience or related training preferred.
- Competency in medical terminology and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and technical skills.
