About the position

The High School Spanish Teacher plays a crucial role in establishing a rigorous and challenging educational program that fosters higher-level cognitive exploration. This position is responsible for motivating students to develop essential skills and knowledge for their future education and careers, while also maintaining effective relationships with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develop lesson plans that reflect District curriculum and meet students' varying needs.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
  • Instruct through a variety of learning activities in assigned subject areas.
  • Observe and evaluate students' academic performance, behavior, and social development.
  • Recognize and accommodate individual student differences in ability and learning style.
  • Establish and enforce rules for positive behavior and maintain a learning culture.
  • Promote a comfortable classroom environment that fosters constructive relationships and student engagement.
  • Provide exposure and activities connected to subject area to address college and career readiness.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student performance.
  • Collaborate with school personnel on academic planning and professional issues.
  • Enforce and follow all administrative policies and rules governing students.
  • Demonstrate ongoing professional growth and competency by utilizing current teaching strategies and resources.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by District policies.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree specific to subject area requirements.
  • Pennsylvania State Teaching Certificate in designated curricular area(s).
  • Clearances/Certifications required (Act 34/151/114/126/168).
  • Knowledge of current research, theory, and instructional practices.
  • Ability to think critically and problem solve related to human learning and behavior.
  • Knowledge of educational protocols and procedures.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching Spanish or related subjects.
  • Familiarity with special education and ability to adapt instruction accordingly.
  • Proficiency in using technology for instructional purposes.
