About the position
Soliant is seeking a contracted School Sign Language Interpreter for the 2023-2024 school year in Durham, NC. This full-time position involves interpreting spoken language into American Sign Language for Deaf or hard-of-hearing students, ensuring effective communication in various educational settings.
Responsibilities
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language and vice versa for Deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
- Provide support in classroom settings, meetings, and other school activities to ensure effective communication.
- Foster a positive learning environment for Deaf or hard-of-hearing students by facilitating communication and understanding.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the educational needs of the students are met.
Requirements
- Minimum 1+ years interpreter experience required.
- EIPA Score 4.0 or higher OR National Interpreter Certification from the RID.
- Completed and passed EIPA written test.
Nice-to-haves
